[ on the contrary, taair is in the Best Mood this morning. like. full on humming a song to himself, disney princess levels of best mood. he beams at mizu when he speaks up. ]
Isn't it wonderful? [ and trots on over to him... sunshine ] After everything, I'd almost forgotten - and that's just as wonderful, too.
[our sweet disney prince... meanwhile, mizu is absolutely reaping the consequences of last night's mistakes. but the mood is not at all bad in spite of this.]
Admittedly, I expected something to go wrong as it always does... But I am glad to have been proven wrong. It's a pleasant surprise.
There was a point last night where I thought to look at the time - and I can't explain how wonderful it felt to realize it was past eleven, and I could walk outside.
[ taair especially loves not being trapped. he watches mizu for a moment, expression very fond. ]
How are you feeling this morning, my friend? You can hold your liquor impressively well, but there was quite a bit flowing...
It was a relief. Leaving the tavern and realizing I could simply walk back to the mansion if I wished to do so.
[no more barriers. no locked doors. just the freedom to go anywhere, as long as you're quick enough to avoid the rain.]
... I'm fine. [hilariously, mizu is absolutely not a big drinker and should have actually stopped after never have i ever. taair doesn't need to know this...] A slight headache, but I've dealt with far worse. You seem well, though.
I felt precisely the same - no matter what awaits us with this judgement, I am glad we had a true night of peace.
[ taair says, warmly, propping his chin in his hand. as for the rest: ]
And - yes. You know, these sorts of celebrations have always been one of my very favorite parts of being here. So... to be able to have such a carefree evening with everyone else, being able to share stories and drink with all of you... it was wonderful.
Though, I did overindulge in the drinking part, certainly. [ a beat. ] So, I cured myself this morning.
I didn't think you would ask, so I thought I might just do it anyway.
[ hehe. he opens up his book, and goes through the whole magic shenanigans - the little knowledge scroll, the poof of wind from the pages, and the little blue bird made of light that flutters over mizu's head and then disappears.
[ he dips his head to the first part with a warm smile. of course. as for the rest.. ]
Haha... I can understand that.
[ thinks sweatily about his cyoa. yeah. being a cool sword wielding anyone is not for him, actually. curiosity flickers briefly across his face, and as he's tucking his book back into his holster, he looks thoughtful. ]
You've not told me much of your mission. Is it completed, or still in progress?
In progress. [easily enough.] There are four men who I am sworn to kill. One has already died by myself. Another was in my grasp at the time of my death, and will soon be dead if I am found worthy of a second chance.
... Yes. One of them is my father. [bitterly.] I do not know which one, but they are the only white men who could have gotten to my mother around the time I was born.
[taair saw Some Shit, so mizu doesn't mind adding some context to the whole situation. feels kind of like he's owed this much.]
But before you think me mad for deciding to kill all of them without the certainty of whether or not I share their blood, know that they're traders in opium, weapons and flesh. They all deserve to die.

[ yay magic healing! :D ]

That so? Lucky you. There are men who would kill to rid themselves of their hangovers with literal magic.
no subject
That wouldn't include you, would it...?
[ but he's already reaching for his book. ]

How's that? Better?

... Fascinating. [first time getting healed with magic. whoa.] And much better. Thank you, Taair.
[a little smile, grateful. thinking that the visual aspect was kind of neat... but of course, mizu won't say that.]
If I had this sort of magic, my mission certainly would have been much easier.
